POPEYE Magazine x Heartfelt: International Women's Day

CLIENT

POPEYE is a monthly fashion and men's lifestyle magazine based in Tokyo, Japan. As one of the oldest publications dedicated to men's fashion, it proudly carries the tagline "Magazine for City Boys." 

Heartfelt is a two-person operation half based in Austin, TX, and the other in Manila, Philippines. This tiny but mighty design duo specializes in crafting memorable and heartfelt work through playful and nostalgic design.

To celebrate International Women's Day on March 8, 2023, we created a special set of covers that shifted the magazine's focus to "City Girls," moving away from its usual emphasis on men's fashion and lifestyle.




EXECUTION

The design for this campaign aimed to celebrate International Women's Day in a fun and vibrant way. With a playful, adventurous, and feminine tone, the design, photography, typography and hand-drawn elements were carefully crafted to illustrate this idea. While the campaign stands strong on its own, we ensured it stayed true to POPEYE's identity, striking a careful balance between tradition and innovation.
